Abstract
In the original language
The chapter presented here discusses the topical issue of assuring the quality of life of the elderly in homes for the elderly during the state of emergency declared in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This is a sensitive social issue in view of the structure of society and the speed with which the population is ageing. The restrictive measures adopted had the greatest impact on this segment of the population which found itself in what amounted to a state of social isolation for a number of weeks. The authors’ aim is to create a corresponding analytical tool for determining the true impacts of the anti-epidemic measures on the elderly. The authors have, for this reason, created an assumed set of structured questions for a questionnaire investigation. Probatory data collection and factor analysis of the obtained data were subsequently performed. The results led to the creation of a reduced set of questionnaire items, the answers to which will help obtain data and information on the impacts of crisis measures on the mental state and quality of life of the elderly living in homes for the elderly.
