Abstract

In the original language

Every business, regardless of its subject matter, strives to achieve success. Many businesses understand success as profit. Profit is the basic principle for which businesses are established, but looking at how profit is achieved is also necessary. Since businesses today find themselves in a challenging competitive struggle, they seek ways to emerge victorious. The basis for victory is to reach customers, which can only be achieved by differentiating themselves from the competition. Differentiation does not consist only in offering a unique product. A business must be focused on customer needs and, at the same time, must look at its surroundings to be profitable. This is the only way to achieve sustainability in business. A simplified guide for every business is its focus on achieving quality in products, its internal processes, and external relations. This chapter summarizes the essential theoretical foundations for achieving sustainability in business by examining and assessing the concepts of critical success factors, business excellence, and corporate social responsibility.
