The aim of the study is to enable students to acquire important theoretical and especially practical knowledge and acquire the necessary range of skills to perform professions in economic, administrative or management positions in public administration, state administration and self-government (including organizations or companies established by them) or in companies or organizations in the non-profit sector, especially those that are in contact with the public administration (for example, as their suppliers).

Emphasis is placed on understanding things in the necessary context, so it is important, among other things, to understand not only management and administration in public administration, but also in the non-profit sector and companies, especially in terms of the possibility of transfer of good practice. The study program thus focuses on the training of experts or specialists with comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of management and administration in public administration, who already work in public administration and need to supplement a practical master's degree or who are just preparing for training immediate entry into practice in positions requiring a master's degree (1) in managerial and reference positions at ministries, local governments or other administrative authorities, (2) in economic, financial or personnel positions (managers and executives in financial or budget departments, departments dealing with asset management, including public procurement, in personnel departments, etc.), (3) in managerial or other positions in public administration, or non-profit sector or companies.

  • Objectives

    After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

    • To solve practical economic or managerial problems in a creative way in an interdisciplinary context
    • Critically compare the views of standard economic models on key economic categories and mechanisms and evaluate their applications to current economic policy issues

  • Occupational Profiles of Graduates

    The graduate can work in executive, middle and senior management positions in organizations in public administration, or in non-profit organizations and companies. It can also be used mainly in the positions of officials, human resources, economists, asset management, analysts, administration, project managers, etc.

  • Rules and Conditions for the Creation of a Study Plan

    The study program is designed in accordance with Act No. 137/2016 Coll., Amending Act No. 111/1998 Coll.,

    on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments to Other Acts (Act on Higher Education Institutions), as amended, and by the methodology of the National Accreditation Office for Higher Education (hereinafter NAÚ) for the creation of study programs. It is a study program without specialization, it is included in the field of education economics.

    The essence of the study program consists of subjects profiling the basis of the study program (Statistics and Econometrics; Local and Regional Development; Management and Economy in Public Administration) and basic theoretical subjects profiling the basis of the study program (Microeconomics and Macroeconomics; Management; Public Economics and Financial Management). Selected topics of these subjects, key for practice, are reflected in the content of state final exams. Other compulsory subjects of the study program develop specific requirements for students' knowledge and competencies in accordance with the study goals and the graduate's profile.

    Compulsory subjects also include a set of subjects that are focused on methodological procedures applied in independent scientific and professional work in the field of economics and management. In the first year, these are the methods Methods of Professional Work and Research Methods in Management, where students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for creating professional texts, research and analysis, in relation to their chosen topic of the thesis. These knowledge and skills will be deepened in the third semester in the subject Diploma Seminar, which is focused on the possibilities of critical processing of literary research related to the problem, the choice of appropriate methodological approaches (procedures) and methods of self-solution. The result of the course is the presentation of the proposed concept of the thesis. This course is followed in the fourth semester by the course Diploma Thesis focused on the application of an individual approach to students, in the form of consultations on the topic in conjunction with professional practice. The condition for granting the credit is regular consultations during the elaboration of the diploma thesis and its systematic preparation culminating in its submission. This procedure enables the supervisor of diploma theses to guide and control the student's progress in creating the diploma thesis and to monitor the process of its creation during its creation with an emphasis on professional quality and academic integrity.

    Compulsory courses also include the courses Professional Practice I, Professional Practice II, Professional Practice III and Professional Practice IV, within which students have the opportunity to consolidate the acquired knowledge and skills and practice directly at the workplace.

    In total, for compulsory (including PZ and ZT) courses, students must obtain 105 credits (87.5% of all credits). The remaining 15 credits are reserved for elective courses. From the 2nd semester, students choose one optional subject per semester, which is always evaluated with 5 credits. In total, students choose 3 elective courses for their studies, in the second, third and fourth semesters. Students choose optional subjects from other subjects outside their compulsory study plan, taught at the University of Regional Development and the Banking Institute - AMBIS, a.s. At the same time, the student can consult the study advisor, the guarantor of the study program or the supervisor of the diploma thesis about the selection of these subjects so that the selected subjects fit thematically into his study portfolio and allow him to penetrate deeper into the area in which he practices. preparing a diploma thesis.

  • Practical Training

    The internship is performed at various employers with regard to the focus and topic of the thesis. Compulsory professional practice is an integral part of the prepared master's professional study program Management and Business Administration. Courses entitled Professional Practice I, Professional Practice II, Professional Practice III and Professional Practice IV are included in the study plan as compulsory subjects, in the first, second, third and fourth semesters, always with a credit score of 4 credits. In total, the student can receive 16 credits for professional practice, performed in a total of 12 working weeks.

    Compulsory professional internship plans are created by the study department of AMBIS University, a.s., in cooperation with the students. The final form of internship plans is subject to the approval of the guarantor of the study program, which takes into account the professional content of the internship and its compliance with the study goals in the study program and the profile of the graduate. An authorized representative - a mentor - is always provided with the contractual partners, who, in cooperation with the program guarantor, supervises and assists the students in the implementation of professional practice. A written contract is concluded with the workplace where the internship is performed. The output of the internship is a report prepared by the student and a project, prepared according to the assignment of the thesis supervisor. Both the report and the project are prepared on an ongoing basis and reflect the student's experience in the workplace. These outputs also inform the teacher and the guarantor about the course of internships and also provide students and teachers with feedback on the application of knowledge gained during the study, which allows the guarantor to reflect in the study plan the needs of the internship.

  • Goals of Theses

    The topics of diploma theses will be focused on practice and solving the requirements of practice, especially practical problems related to the management or economy of organizations in public administration (state administration, self-government, their organizations), or in the non-profit sector or companies. In the theoretical part of the work the student will demonstrate the ability to create a professional text using relevant Czech and foreign literature. Emphasis will be placed on the practical part of the work, which may take the form of a case study (solving a specific problem from practice), comparative or other studies, the form of a set of surveys with its evaluation and proposal of measures, in the form of a project, in the form of a proposal to improve similarly. Compared to the bachelor's thesis, great emphasis is placed on the student proving that he is able to successfully apply the acquired theoretical knowledge to a practical problem, assess this problem or situation from a professional point of view and especially in a broader context (context), and thus design and also adequately justify the chosen procedure for their solution or propose recommendations.

  • Access to Further Studies

    The follow-up master's degree program in Management and Economy in Public Administration follows on from the bachelor's degree program in Management of Urban Development and Accredited at the University of Regional Development and Banking Institute - AMBIS, as, and the bachelor's degree program in Management and Management in Public Administration. on the accreditation of the application is not completed on the date of submission of the submitted application for the follow-up master's study program. It is also assumed that there will be a connection to similarly designed bachelor's degree programs in economics and programs.
