I want to make available to students in IS an image, a section scanned from a book by a foreign author, an article scanned from a journal, etc. Does this violate copyright law?: No, it does not. Intellectual property is protected in the Czech Republic and the Copyright Act allows the use of extracts from other people's works, inter alia, in the case of the use of a published work in a lecture exclusively for scientific or teaching purposes and in the case of the inclusion of works in a work intended for teaching purposes to clarify its content. However, it is always necessary to give the name of the author, unless the work is anonymous, or the name of the person under whose name the work is made public, as well as the title of the work and the source.
