Application form

1. What to do

  • make sure you keep on filling in the field-related sections until the application prompts you (turning orange) to submit it

You can make any changes to the application any time before you have clicked on 'Submit this application'.

Please print out its paper version, sign it, enclose with it the filled-out form titled Terms of Payment, a notarized copy of your secondary-school leaving exam certificate or diploma as well as a document substantiating you have paid the application fee and send them all to the Office for Studies or the appropriate BICB department.

2. Rounds of admission procedures

To satisfy all the applicants, we organize admission procedures in several rounds. Please select the round which allows you to deliver the document substantiating you have paid your application fee as well as the printed version of your application by the application submission deadline. Provided the payment and the application arrive in time, the school will confirm your choice. However, in some situations you may be assigned to a later round for capacity reasons (for details, please see your electronic application). If your payment or application arrive late, you will be automatically assigned to a later round. In some special situations, you may also submit your application after the last application submission deadline in which case you may be admitted as late as the beginning of teaching period.

The electronic application allows you to fill in its empty fields and make other changes in it even after the application submission deadline. All the changes you make after the school accepts your electronic application (after the delivery of your printed one) acquire the status of suggested ones, i.e. those which have to be additionally approved by the school. An example of a suggested change is that of an address in the situation where you change your place of residence.

3. May I use the printed version of the application?

You can also submit a printed version of the standard application for a place at university available in the SEVT stores and our school. However, we recommend that you use the electronic application that can be submitted here as it is designed the way that makes the application submission process easier for both the parties. In addition, its submission is 100 CZK cheaper than that of the printed application (400 CZK vs. 500 CZK). Provided you have decided to submit the printed version due to finding something about the electronic one unclear, you may still contact our staff for clarification.

4. My application form is different from my friend's

Applications for places on different fields are different. As a result, your form might not contain some of the text fields the others do (e.g. those to fill in with your secondary school grades, information related to the medical certificate, examination exemption application and/or other items). Please make sure that you fill in all the required fields (marked red). Once you have done so, the form will offer you the option Submit this application.

5. When and where am I supposed to submit my secondary-school leaving exam certificate?

You should enclose the authenticated copy of your secondary-school leaving exam certificate or diploma (including its supplement) with the signed version of your application you send to us.

6. I have forgotten my electronic application password. What shall I do now?

For security reasons, applicants are not provided with their passwords via telephone. If your electronic application contains a valid email address, you can change your password; however, this is only possible for the current admission procedure. If your application is not complete or has not been submitted yet, please create a new one. If you have already submitted your application and paid the application fee, you no longer need your password as you can access all the information regarding the entrance exam and the result of admission procedures even without it. All you need is your application ID and date of your birth.

If you no longer remember your application ID either, we can send it to you provided you request it from the email address you have entered into your application; in addition, the email also has to contain your full name. Your application ID can also be found in the letter inviting you to the entrance exam, which every applicant should receive at least three weeks prior to the exam date.

7. I wish to change my field of study

If you want to change your field of study, please create a new application. If you have already paid the application fee, you may want to send an email to the address above requesting the transfer of the application fee to the new application. This is, however, only possible until the end of the application submission period; additional changes to field of study are not possible after the submission period.

8. Do I have to provide my email address and telephone number?

Although it is optional, you are strongly recommended to enclose this information, since it allows the Office for Studies to quickly get in touch with you in the event of any problem. Please make sure that you check your email regularly.

9. I would like to apply for a place on a concrete specialization, but I can only see fields.

Studies at the University are organized as follows: The University offers degree programmes each of which has one or more fields of study. Some fields are further divided into specializations. Create your application by selecting a field from the ones offered. You will be able to select your specialization later on, i.e. during your studies.

Application fee payment

10. How can I pay the application fee?

After you submit your application, you will be prompted to pay the application fee. The System will give you the total sum to pay, bank account number and your unique variable symbol identifier. Please use this information in your postal money order, payment order, internet banking transaction, or with a bank teller directly at your bank (usually subject to fees).

11. Payment-related problems

  • I have underpaid the fee: Please make another payment to pay the remainder of the sum using the correct variable symbol identifier.
  • I made the payment two weeks ago, but its reception has not yet been confirmed in my application: Please scan your statement of account or the document substantiating your payment and send it to the address below.
  • I have used a wrong or no variable symbol identifier: Please scan your statement of account or any other document substantiating your payment and send it to the address below.
  • Will you refund the fee if I opt not to start my studies? - No, the application fee is non-refundable.

Note: When making a payment from a bank account abroad, please make sure that you do so in the OUR payment mode (fees covered by the one making the payment).

12. What is the fee payment deadline?

Let us consider the following situation, where the application submission deadline is May 31: Provided you pay the application fee in the evening of May 31, its payment date might be that of the following day, i.e. June 1. That is why the University even accepts the payments made on June 1, or the first weekday following May 31. Therefore, you may also pay the fee in the morning of June 1 since its payment date will still be June 1. However, if you do so late in the afternoon of June 1, its payment date might be June 2 and, as a result, the fee might not be accepted.

The electronic application must be submitted by the midnight of deadline dates (usually May 31 and August 31), though. It is not possible to do so later on.

13. I do not understand some of the terms used in the description of fields of study
If you do not understand some terms related to the studies at the University, please read through the following section.

  1. Degree programme covers a certain specific area of studies, e.g. Physics, Humanities, etc. Every applicant is admitted to one of degree programmes offered. A university may offer one or more fields of study within the same degree programme.

  2. Field of study specifies what the student specializes in within his/her degree programme. Students can enrol in one or more fields (depending on the type of studies since these can be single-subject or double-subject); additionally, study fields can differ in the available study modes (see below). During their studies, students can switch to other field(s) within the same degree programme under certain circumstances and therefore change the focus of their studies or the study mode.

  3. Bachelor's degree programmes aim to prepare students for the jobs which require knowledge of the latest findings. The standard length of studies (including practical training) is usually three years. Bachelor's degree (Bc.) is conferred on the graduates of these programmes.

  4. Master's degree programmes (following bachelor's) aim to provide students with knowledge of the latest findings in the field of science, research and development and strive to teach them to use this knowledge in practice as well as develop their creative potential. The standard length of studies in these is two years. The degree of Ing. is conferred on the BICB MA graduates.

  5. Full-time study mode allows students to attend lectures, seminars, classes, etc. given by academic staff.

  6. Distance study mode allows students to study with the aid of information means and does not require them to regularly attend classes.

  7. Combined studies mode represents a combination of full-time and distance modes.
